Just two weeks back, Delhi Capitals, having defeated Chennai Super Kings for the second time in the league, were at the top of the IPL points table with 14 points from 9 games. They just needed a solitary win from the remaining five matches to enter the playoffs. At that point of time, it seemed qualification was a mere formality.
