The missing link between philosophy and result

There's a scene in Gangs of Wasseypur, where legislator JP Singh, sitting in the Police Superintendent's office to resolve a land grabbing case, arrogantly reminds upstart goons, Sardar Khan and Asgar, of his position and their place. We all know how that goes down. JP is slapped around as if for fun, and amidst all the derision, an altered balance of power is announced with quiet intent and menace.
